Virtual Radar

Postby Spitfire » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:53 am

I was noodling around with this yesterday and see that when you click on an aircraft it changes to gold and it shows its recent flight path as a red line.

So a plane destined for LHR coming from Murka sometimes gets routed to the big loop stack and then brought in on a very nice pattern - like this .....

BUT .... this guy - coming in from Sweden - has been on the Grolsch I think ......unless he like's Brentwood :D

It's interesting seeing how they feed them in to the line for LHR too - must be very interesting working in ATC :D

=)) =))
Maybe he just likes making all his passengers sick =))

When I came back from NY we were in a queue for LHR for ages about 45 minutes spent holdng if I remember rightly.
Has to be one of the busiest air ports in the world IMO.

Although waiting to take of from JKF took forever I think they had some building work going on the taxi way or something, as all the aircraft were feeding onto one runway, so there was this huge back log, plus if was dark (23:45 was boarding time) so all you could see were lights, very pretty.

When we came in from Hong Hong we were the first to land after the night restrictions, we touched down at 04.32 6secs am, they don't open the runway until 4.32am :))

He stopped on the proverbial 6 pence -

Waiting to collect our luggage the aircrew were also waiting. I mentioned the short stopping distance to the Captain - he said he had applied full reverse thrust & the brakes as the normal exit was closed so if he missed the first we would have had to hold at the end of the runway for 30 mins whilst other a/c came in & he sure as hell wasn't going to do that =)) =))

See Pam I wasn't the only one who missed it in RLN's first posting of it :D :p

It's a cracking programme - but where I thought I'd see stuff overflying Cornwall it appears there's no cover down our way - it seems (logically) to be centred around the main european airports.

Tell you what, It gives a different perspective!!!!

I know there is a 4 minute delay but a/c I thought were between my house & Lincoln I notice are much further north.......and some that I would have said were between here and The coast are in fact over the North Sea!!
