Iconic Aircraft FSX Challenge 3...

Postby Saracenman » Mon Feb 16, 2009 3:27 pm

Oil-rig Landing! :D

rules:

  • any aircraft of your choice
  • Real-world weather
  • take off from VALKENBURG Naval Base, Netherlands (EHVB)
  • fly on a heading of 274° magnetic, for 34nm (roughly 20 mins at 120knts±)
  • spot the oil-rig on the horizon (a good test of navigation)
  • land on the helipad :D
  • three screenshots required: 1) at Valkenburg 2) above the oil-rig 3) on the helipad

how long shall we say for this to run then? three weeks? Monday 9th March :D

perhaps our illustrious Murkin would be happy to adjudicate, or shall we find a different judge this time?

after the three weeks you could create a poll - but the people that enter can't vote.

The information I have DOESN'T specify FSX or FS9 just "Microsoft Flight Simulator", so we cannot say its NOT there ;) Give it a try :D

if it's not there SB - just google for oils-rigs - i bet there's one that's comparable

if not, then pick somewhere that's of a similar nature (land on top of a sky-scraper???) - our adjudicator will be sympathetic to your peasantry =))

Nice :D

I have a sneaky feeling there will be a larger number of attempts per person on this one :)

I had a wander out into the North Sea last night in FS9 and stooged around for an hour or so but no Oil Rig (even at the coordinates for this one). Checked my display settings and they were at max. Anyone in FS9 seen this mithical rig? :p

Maybe I need to preflight the Nimrod for a 14 hour sortie? :((

SB - I've just done a google search for "oil rigs in FS9..........

from a 2003 post on: http://flyawaysimulation.com/postt131.html

"Yes, there is a oil rig in FS2004! Go to airport "corpus Christi" and fly to eastern direction. There should be one!"

no idea where that is and can't check coz i don't have FS9 =))

any help?

Corpus Cristi is in extreme Southwest Texas
on the Gulf of Mexico......

Meanwhile, I'm waiting to see someone do it
in a Harrier!
