DeHavilland Aviation

Postby Gully » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:56 pm

Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else and info seems sketchy at the moment (although Keypublishing forum seems to confirm it), but it appears that DeHavilland Aviation down at Bournemouth has gone into administration. :(

Wonder what the future holds for the Sea Vixen, Gnat etc? Think the Sea Vixen is owned by someone else, but DHA was the engineering authority.

Anybody know anything?

Thanks,

Gully

I'd heard rumours about this. Really sad. I think the Sea Vixen is owned by a bloke called Julian Jones, however I'm not sure if there's anywhere else that's authorised to maintain it as it's classed as complex by the CAA.
I'd be gutted if it gets grounded. :(

What nonsense was that?
This is my sig:

I hope it's not too inflammatory and I hope that certain people wont completely misunderstand it like they did with the last one.

Bump........

Does anyone know if DeHavilland are no longer?

I was looking at the line up for this years Yeovilton Airday and there was no mention of the Sea Vixen being static or even flying this year (being a Navy led airshow, you'd expect it to be at the top of their wish list?).

Which got me thinking.........(queue comment ;) )
a) Is it because Lt Cdr Matt Whitfield who is/was the most recent/only pilot, had a stroke last year and still isn't able to fly due to medical reasons?
or,
b) Because of De Havilland being no longer, leading to no one else being licenced to keep the Sea Vixen flying?

Methinks - Sea Vixen airshow dates will be released at a later date.. (possibly limited in number). I personally can't see her missing this years entire airshow season. As for De Havilland.. see linky :
