Not Aviation, But........

Postby Dan4th » Wed Jan 27, 2010 6:21 pm

Thought you might like this....

It's Lockheed's entry in a competition for
the Littoral Combat Ship -- fast, shallow
draft, smallish and well-armed.

Enjoy!

Great for the Weekends!

I think I read somewhere that RN has
expressed an interest, but they'd be
built chez vous.....

I'll go look for the other 1/2 of the comp.....

Here's the Wiki:::::::::::

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Littoral_combat_ship

Looks like USN intends to build both of them!

The other one's a tri-maran:

40-plus knots sustained, both of 'em.....

Recreational Waterskiing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prefer the first one. Like the way they only show them on duck pond seas.

I'm just amazed that USN is going to
build them both!

I guess during the competiton, each
one had its own strengths and faults,
so It seems they've split the mission...

Sunseeker? Nah, you want one of these. 3 Gas Turbines and 2x 370 BHP diesels for pottering about. Sorry about the bloke with the funny accent (and I don't mean the Italian).
